About the Facility - Columbia VAMC
The Columbia VA opened in 1932 at its current location and now includes seven community-based outpatient clinics located throughout South Carolina in the Upstate, Midlands, and Pee Dee areas, serving 36 of 45 counties in South Carolina. The seven CBOCs are in Anderson, Florence, Greenville, Orangeburg, Rock Hill, Spartanburg, and Sumter. All clinics except for Rock Hill are VA-staffed. Pulmonologist-Critical Care - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- The Pulmonologist performs procedures such as: Thoracentesis, Central line placement, Arterial line placements, Bronchoscopies, Bedside bronchoscopies, Intubation procedures, Patient rounding, Bedside echo, PFT interpretations.
- Providing inpatient consultation.
- Being reachable for consultative care at the request of a referring physician to discuss a patient's case, ensuring timely care.
- Physician rounds shall be conducted on postoperative ENT patients in the SICU and on the wards. All cases will be discussed in morbidity and mortality conferences, and the physician will provide appropriate information to the COR for inclusion in departmental reports.
- The Pulmonologist provides on-call services.
- Reviewing consults and triaging daily.
- Following all established medication policies and procedures.
- Providing discharge education and follow-up instructions coordinated with the next care setting for emergency department patients.
- The Pulmonologist offers post-procedure evaluation, follow-up, and clinical consultation regarding complications of procedures.
Pulmonologist-Critical Care - REQUIREMENTS
- Must have completed an accredited residency and/or fellowship program.
- Must have 3 years' experience as a Pulmonologist.
- Must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited graduate school of medicine.
- Shall be Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Pulmonary.
- Must have and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications as approved by the American Heart Association (AHA).
