MD/DO - Internist - Pulmonology REQUIREMENTS (duties include but are not limited to) Diagnoses and treats diseases. Prepares and reviews case histories and clinical records. Performs diagnostic procedures including x-ray examinations, clinical laboratory tests, pulmonary function tests, critical care, and sleep studies. Interprets test results, evaluates examination findings, and treats. Prescribes such treatment for internal diseases as drugs, physical therapy, and dietary regimens. Coordinates pulmonary services with other medical activities. Inpatient Services. Provides inpatient pulmonary services during normally scheduled hours of performance, to include on-call hours when applicable. Must be capable of performing the full range of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. Participation in teaching programs, where applicable. Provide instruction for adult nurse practitioner students, physician assistant interns, medical students, interns, and residents in the form of clinical rotations. Consult with appropriate specialists. Write initial admission orders. Prescribe and administer drugs QUALIFICATIONS Current board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine in pulmonology. Completion of a residency or fellowship in internal medicine acceptable to the Surgeon General, USAF, is mandatory. Completion of an additional residency or fellowship program in pulmonology acceptable to the Surgeon General, HQ USAF, is mandatory. Must be capable of performing the full range of pulmonology services. Must be Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified.
