Piedmont Geriatric Hospital is actively recruiting for a Psychiatrist who will provide psychiatric care to a designated number of geriatric patients as assigned by the Medical Director. Current position is on the Admissions Unit with a maximum capacity of 27 patients. The selected individual will work closely with a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and an Internist/Family Practitioner also assigned to the same unit. The selected applicant will: - Serve as staff psychiatrist rendering direct patient care and case related consultation and communication. - Be responsible for admission evaluations and in developing a comprehensive treatment plan incorporating multidisciplinary clinical input. - Carry out miscellaneous assigned committee and teaching responsibilities and participate in administrative and/or patient related medical meetings. - Serve as back-up physician in the absence of other physicians. - Possess good diagnostic and treatment development skills, the ability to lead a multidisciplinary treatment team and good writing and communication skills. - Be a graduate of an approved medical school, licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine and hold a current DEA Our hospital is the only facility within the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services devoted to the treatment of the elderly.
