Admissions Psychiatrist Needed – Fairfield County, CT – Part-Time Opportunity

Private nonprofit psychiatric hospital located in Fairfield County, CT has an opening for a part-time psychiatrist to provide initial evaluations of patients being admitted to our hospital. Patients who are scheduled for admission (we have no emergency room) receive a thorough diagnostic and current-state evaluation in our admissions department before being transferred to one of our programs. This evaluation is the basis for initial treatment planning, including selection of the most appropriate level of care at our hospital as the next step after admission.

Our Admissions Department has a full-time staff including nursing, social work, nursing assistants, telephone answering staff and administrative  leadership.

The available  opening is for either one or two 8-hour days per week. The successful applicant will be certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or eligible for this certification.

Our program and facility has a long history of providing outstanding treatment of psychiatric and substance use disorders. Founded in 1931 we are an academic affiliate of the Yale University School of  Medicine Department of Psychiatry and are located on Connecticut’s “Gold Coast.” The area is well known for its excellent school system and its wide range of architecture from the Harvard Five modern homes to historic New England colonials and farms as well as many stately mansions and tended estates. Located just 40 miles north of New York City, the area boasts a signature town center with premiere shopping, classic boutiques and an elaborate display of lights for the holidays.
