Charter Oak Health Center is seeking employment of a Psychiatrist who is eager to work in a diverse environment. This person must have passion to work in the under-served environment and must be a team player.  The individual must believe in the mission and vision of Charter Oak Health Center in order to deliver top customer service.
 
POSITION SUMMARY
Assess and treat mental illnesses through a combination of psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and medication. Psychotherapy involves regular discussions with patients about their problems; help patients find solutions through changes in their behavioral patterns, the exploration of their past experiences, or group and family therapy sessions.
 
Essential Position Duties
  1. Obtain relevant information about an individual through one on one interview to include the person’s genetic/social background, history of symptoms, childhood experiences and symptom history required to formulate a diagnosis. 
  2. After diagnosis and assessment, initiate a treatment plan.  If appropriate make recommendations, referrals, engage in therapy and/or prescribe medications.
  3. Provide initial psychotropic medication and medication evaluations on clients referred by Behavioral Health clinicians.
  4. Provide medication management therapy for clients of Behavioral Health.
  5. Collect and maintain the patient records to analyze the progress of the treatment.
  6. Explain the form of treatment and the expected behavior with the patient, to the family members, guardians or relatives of the patient.
  7. Treat patients with various mental disorders, which can be a minor problem like anxiety to very serious disorder like schizophrenia.
  8. Analyze the psychiatric history of the patient and attend sessions with the patient to solve the psychological problem.
  9. Complete managed care treatment plans and initial review for clients seen for psychotropic medication management within 72 hours of provided service.
  10. Consult/collaborate with Behavioral Health providers within, and outside of the agency to provide comprehensive behavioral health services within 24 hours.
 
Compliance Responsibilities
  • Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including but not limited to those within the Compliance Process, Code of Conduct, HIPAA and Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA).
  • Participates in required orientation and training programs, as required.
  • Reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance in accordance with COHC Compliance Re porting Process.
  • Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.
  • Participates, as requested, in process improvement responsibilities.
 
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
 
Core Competencies/Skill Sets
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Professional Experience/Educational Requirements
  • 4 years of undergraduate school
  • 4 years of medical school, and
  • 3 to 8 years of internship and residency
  • preference for at least 1 to 3 years experience after psychiatric training but may consider a new grad
 
Certification/Licensure
  • Board Certification or eligible in Psychiatry
  • able to obtain Medical License, State of Connecticut
