Dear Dr. of Palliative Care, How does living in Beautiful WA and practicing Palliative Care sound in a growing inpatient service at a vibrant 500 bed community, safety-net hospital about 30 miles north of Seattle. The team is composed of 4 MDs and an NP who do inpatient consults and primary palliative care service. The hospital has a strong chaplain staff that supports all inpatient work, and supportive pharmacists, as well as supportive, non-dedicated social work help. The outpatient clinic serves the oncology group, but stands separately. The inpatient team is a part of the 50+ Hospitalist group and so enjoys a hospitalist schedule of 14-17 shifts a month, with no nights or call while on the palliative care service. The most desirable candidate would have a strong medicine background (internal medicine/family medicine) and ability to work some hospitalist shifts. The community is socioeconomically diverse, and the successful applicant would have a lively curiosity about people from different backgrounds and desire to understand patients and families' communities. Palliative Care here is very well supported with strong relationships with the ICU, ER, specialists and hospice. Primary palliative care is largely part of the expected care provided by primary providers. The strongest applicant would have a deep knowledge of pain and symptom management, in addition to excellent communication and narrative medicine skills to provide subspecialty level palliative care and consultation. This community hospital has deep ties to the University of Washington and a long tradition of teaching medical students. The palliative care team will be the site for rotating students to take an elective in PC consults. There are also opportunities to teach third year Internal Medicine clerks if teaching is a passion. Our providers enjoy a balanced lifestyle that allows them to explore the natural beauty here, travel abroad, spend time with family, and also practice excellent palliative care with a supportive environment and fascinating patients. This Clinic is one of the Northwest's most sought-after organizations. *** Coordinated Care- across multiple disciplines *** Flexible Shifts- *** Excellent communication with Providers *** Epic EMR *** Variable and exciting patient care mix *** Patient Focused Environment *** Integrated Practice Unit- Collaborative care model working to facilitate disease management. *** Above Market Compensation I look forward to hearing from you and have a wonderful day!
