About the Facility: Shiprock IHS
The Shiprock Service Unit, the largest geographical service unit of the Navajo Area Indian Health Service (NAIHS), serves populations across New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. SRSU oversees one hospital, Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC), and two health centers: Four Corners Regional Health Center and Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle Health Center. NNMC offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including medical-surgical, pediatric care, labor and delivery, ICU, internal medicine, family practice, emergency care, women's health, and more, with 55 inpatient beds. NNMC's Emergency Department is certified as PEDS Ready, ensuring effective pediatric emergency care.

Pediatrician - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- The Pediatrician delivers outpatient and inpatient pediatric care, including labor, delivery/postpartum ward, Level 2 Nursery, and Pediatric Ward.
- Provide consultation and support for emergency rooms, labor and delivery suites, and other specialty departments.
- The Pediatrician attends high-risk vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections; perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilization as required.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat pediatric patients in clinics, inpatient wards, and emergency settings.
- Perform minor surgical procedures and assist other physicians when needed.
- Conduct daily rounds for inpatient pediatric cases, ensuring proper documentation, admissions, and discharges.
- The Pediatrician provides total patient care, including preventive services, early diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
Pediatrician - REQUIREMENTS
- Should be board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
- Shall have a valid, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, District of Columbia, or U.S. territory.
- Minimum of 36 months of physician experience, with at least 12 months in pediatrics.
- Shall have current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
