MD/DO - Hospitalist - Department of Surgery POSITION OVERVIEW (duties include but are not limited to) Department of Surgery (DOS) Hospitalist Duties will fall into the following categories: 1. Preoperative Clinic o Daily Preoperative Clinic Schedule. o Scheduled patients and walk-in patients seen is subspecialty clinics or in designated area. o Urgent Preoperative Evaluations in ER and on Ward. o Manage additional IM subspecialty consults if indicated. 2. Managing Surgical Patients on Wards o Primarily manage non-surgical patients who require no surgical procedures. o Co-manage surgical patients with medical comorbidities requiring IM participation. o Respond to urgent IM issues after duty hours. 3. Perioperative Management of Surgical Patient o Clinic follow-up of previously seen surgical patients as needed. QUALIFICATIONS • Shall be a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy who has successfully completed an approved residency training program in a primary care specialty and is board certified/board eligible in Internal Medicine with additional training in Geriatric Medicine desirable or has successfully completed an approved residency training program in General Surgery and is board certified/board eligible in General Surgery with additional training in Trauma desirable. • Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted current license from one of the 50 states or US territories and current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number (certificate) to prescribe controlled substances in accordance with the law of the state where services are provided. • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certifications as approved by the American Heart Association (AHA).
