About the Facility – Gallup Indian Medical Center
The Gallup Indian Medical Center is a 78-bed hospital in Gallup, New Mexico, on the border of the Navajo Reservation. Clinical specialties at the GIMC include internal medicine, cardiology, anesthesia, OB Slash GYN, general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, ENT, radiology, pathology, pediatrics, psychiatry, emergency medicine, and urology. The workload at Gallup is one of the largest in the Indian Health Service, with 250,000 outpatient encounters and 5800 inpatient admissions annually. GIMC is the largest staff of all Navajo area Client facilities.

Pediatrician - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

  • Duties and responsibilities may encompass outpatient and inpatient services.
  • Shall interview and examine pediatric patients, review past medical history, and request and/or perform diagnostic tests and examinations, deemed necessary to obtain all possible information related to each case.
  • Will admit patient to pediatric ward and/or WHY/L&D accordingly.
  • Shall refer pediatric patients to appropriate contracted medical or Governmental facilities, providing full clinical information for care and diagnostic procedures that cannot be adequately provided at the local IHS facilities.Will assist in cesarean sections with fetal indications.
  • Will perform diagnosis, care, and treatment of pediatric inpatients, level 1 nursery patients, pediatric consults in the ER and urgent care dept, and consultations of the inpatients admitted to other services (surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN).


Pediatrician - REQUIREMENTS

  • Should be board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
  • Shall have a valid, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, District of Columbia, or U.S. territory.
  • Minimum of 36 months of physician experience, with at least 12 months in pediatrics.
  • Shall have current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
