Medical Oncologist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- The Medical Oncologist collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to accurately assess patient needs and develop suitable treatment plans.
- Act as a key member of the patient-care team, implementing treatment plans and monitoring patient progress.
- Utilize and promote approved standards of care, procedures, techniques, safety precautions, and study protocols.
- Order diagnostic tests, such as biopsies, blood tests, and imaging studies, to confirm diagnoses.
- The Medical Oncologist provides patients with comprehensive information about their cancer, prognosis, and possible treatment options.
- Develop treatment plans with measurable goals that deliver the highest level of care while respecting patient preferences.
- Maintain patients' quality of life by managing cancer-related pain, symptoms, and treatment side effects.
- Reassess treatment as the disease progresses and consider alternative therapies or palliative care when necessary.
- The Medical Oncologist participates in training sessions and communications related to study protocols and clinical trials, ensuring patient confidentiality is always maintained.
Medical Oncologist - REQUIREMENTS
- Shall have (MD) or MD/PhD, or equivalent, with training in oncology.
- Must be board certified OR board eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Oncology.
- Must have current license to practice medicine in any state, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
- Must have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as certified by the American Heart Association (AHA).
