PHYSICIAN, FAMILY MEDICINE (3.1.2009) EEOC Category: Professional FLSA: Exempt JOB PURPOSE Under broad general direction from the Medical Director, provides professional medical services including the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of diseases, disorders and injuries in specialty area of Family Medicine. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Reports to: Medical Director/Lead Physician Directs: May supervise mid-level providers, residents and/or other clinic staff JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES Performs physical assessment of patient using observation, inspection, auscultation, palpation and percussion and orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient¡¦s condition. Diagnoses and treats diseases, disorders and injuries based on patients' medical history and results of physical assessment and refer patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment. Prescribes medications and therapies for treatment and preventive care. Instructs patients and their families regarding procedures performed, home care, and follow-up visits. Directs professional and ancillary health care staff during treatment of patients. Responds to inquiries from staff and patients regarding preventive health and treatments. Compiles patient medical data including health history, treatment plans, results of physical examination, etc. and records in electronic medical record. Reports required information including deaths and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities. Plans, promotes, demonstrates, recommends and coordinates high standards of medical practice.
