Requirements (duties
include but are not limited to)

Occupational medical evaluations of military members
with psychiatric problems who are undergoing MEB or TDRL; this is the
primary duty of this position.
Other clinical patients will be managed to the extent that the
primary duty allows. This will ensure currency in practice skills, as well
as credentials review
- Performance of comprehensive psychiatric evaluations
and biopsychosocial evaluations of patients, to include a complete history
and physical, performance of mental status examinations, provision of
diagnosis, and development of individualized treatment plans.
- Communication with patient's family and others as
required to obtain collateral information.
- Composition of narrative summary detailing findings,
assessment, and recommendation concerning retention/deployment for
individual military members.
- Provision of individual psychotherapy and
pharmacological management of clinical patients
- Provision of teaching and in-service training to
residents. Advises on problems related to mental health and prevention of
mental disorders.
- Coordination of treatment plan implementation with
patients and their families.
- Serving on MEB on a recurring basis as the voting
mental health member.
- Psychiatrist will not be required to participate in on
call services or carry on call pager.
Qualifications
- Completion of residency or
fellowship in psychiatry acceptable to the Surgeon general, Headquarters United
States Air Force.
- Must be board certified or board
eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

Must have a minimum of 24 months
within the past 36 months of clinical practice experience as a psychiatrist.

Possess current unrestricted license
in one of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of
Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Must have current Basic Life Support
(BLS) as certified by the American Heart Association (AHA).
