* Good communication skills
* Experience in Hospital Medicine including ICU management. Expertise and confidence to work independently.
* Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
Requirements of the candidate:

* The current model is a 3 hospitalist model with a block schedule.  The core schedule of 5 days on and two off covering every 1 in 3 weekends.  A combination of Hospitalists and facility’s primary care physician’s work together to provide 24 hour coverage for the program. * The average inpatient census at the facility is 17 patients. * There is a 4-bed ICU/CCU unit equipped with new monitors and beds, staffed by experienced Registered Nurses 24 hours a day and managed by an ICU director. A staff Pulmonologist is available for consultation. * Phone consultation with Intensivists and other specialists is also available. * The candidate must be experienced in Hospital medicine, with the ability to work independently and manage ICU patients. * The physician must have competency in central line placement and ventilator management.
Responsibilities of the Hospitalist:

This area is the northern anchor of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. This is the most unspoiled portion of the most beautiful state in the eastern US.  Mountains, lakes, rivers, forests are dotted with lovely small towns. Outdoor recreation abounds, including hiking, cycling, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and golf.  It sits on the southern edge of Lake Memphremagog, a 24-mile international lake that stretches up into Canada. Jay Peak is 20 minutes away, providing unrivaled downhill skiing, as well as a new indoor water park and a championship golf course.  Schools are excellent and real estate is affordable.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Hospitalist who wishes to practice in a beautiful rural setting in a pleasant workplace, joining a cordial, well trained medical staff. Located in northern Vermont, serves a catchment area of 28,000, spread across three counties in northern Vermont on the Canadian border. They are a fiscally sound, up-to-date facility with 25 active beds. The hospital carries the federal designation of a Critical Access Hospital
