Permanent Psychiatry: General Job in Fairbanks, Alaska

MD/DO - Adult Psychiatrist REQUIREMENTS Shall be responsible for psychiatric care of patients generally ranging in age from 18 to 62 years of age. Appointment types will vary between initial intake appointments and follow on care (i.e., medication management). The Government will establish the work schedule and patient templates. In general, most appointments are scheduled for 30 min duration. The HCP shall be expected to see at least 30 hours of direct clinical care weekly. Provide consultation, which includes not only medication intervention, but also traditional clinical interventions, which emphasize delimiting and remediation of psychopathology and prevention of psychological disorders, and encourages psychological health. Apply psychological procedures and techniques, including interviewing, behavioral and psycho-diagnostic assessment, and cognitive-behavioral therapy, in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological disorders. Prescribe medications for mental health disorders consistent with standard of practice and provide diagnostic assessment. Consult with medical personnel, legal authorities, and military commanders, as required, to provide professional advice on the mental health of a patient. Produce reports of evaluation and/or treatment as required, document appropriately in the inpatient and outpatient setting, and complete timely dictation or charting of Medical Boards. Provide treatment across a range of differing therapies, which includes: medication management, brief treatments, behavior management and group therapy in an outpatient clinical setting. Provide expert consultation to the Command, other individuals and organizations, to include courts, and social services, regarding specific case management and programmatic issues. QUALIFICATIONS Shall have completed an accredited medical degree program acceptable to DA. Shall have a current unrestricted license to practice Adult and/or Child Psychiatry in the State of Alaska, and be able to obtain clinical privileges at Bassett Army Community Hospital and Fairbanks Memorial Hospital through approval of the Credentials Committee. Must have or obtain a current, valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number prior to performing the contract services. Any change to the DEA requirements to obtain a valid DEA registration number is applicable when the incumbent's existing DEA registration expires. Shall be a graduate of a nationally accredited internship/residency program in clinical Psychiatry. Shall have completed an approved internship/residency program in clinical Psychiatry. Shall have had outpatient psychiatry experiences within the last five years in a practice. Have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. The American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is the only program accepted. BLS recertification shall be maintained in a current status at all times while the HCP is performing services under this contract.
