Permanent Hospitalist: Family Medicine Job in New York
Searching for three full-time physicians needed to join a hospital based practice. Ideal candidates should be BE/BC in internal medicine or family medicine.
The full time physicians work 15 twelve-hour shifts per month. Six physicians work the day shift (7am-7pm) one physician works the evening shift (12pm-12am) and one physician works the night shift (7pm-7am). The workload is shared equally among the physicians. The typical census ranges from 40-55 with the average number of encounters per physician being 15-17 per day (8-10 at night). The scheduling is fairly flexible with the full time physicians working anywhere from 6-8 shifts in a row. On average the physicians are covering 2 nights per month.
Competitive compensation package. The full time physicians receive $126 per hour and are required to work 180 hours per month ($272160 annually). Any shifts worked in excess of 15 per month will be paid at a rate of $131 per hour. The physicians receive $135 per hour for any night shifts that are worked. Will also cover moving expenses up to $10000.
Employer is private non-profit NYS designation level II trauma center serving a tri-county area of 170000 in northeastern New York. Regional tertiary center that offers high technology and is JCAHO accredited. One of eight state-designated Regional Resource Centers for Emergency Management. Recognized by Healthgrades as a Top 100 Hospital for Cardiac Care. Daily census is approximately 284 (approximately 170 acute beds) with 165 physicians on the Medical Staff. Recent year saw 10220 admissions 96360 patient days 1095 births 51100 emergency room visits and 22265 surgical procedures. Much bigger than what you would expect in a rural area.
Offers a quality of life that is second to none along with practicing in a big hospital. Excellent schools both public and private. The State University of New York also has a branch here with 6200 students. Montreal Burlington Vermont and Lake Placid are all within an hour’s drive.
