Permanent Hospitalist: Internal Medicine Job in Saginaw, Michigan

Hospitalist Place of Performance: Saginaw, MI A-Team Solutions is seeking (2) two full time Physicians (Hospitalist) for a government facility in Saginaw, MI for an opportunity that we are currently pursuing. Job Duties: Contractor physician(s) shall perform the following services, which include, but are not limited to: • Providing a full range of medical care in the Urgent Care, Acute Care Telemetry Unit (ACT), and palliative/end of life care to patients in the Palliative Care Unit and Community Living Center (CLC). • Assist Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistants with patient care in the CLC and Urgent Care. Develops a collaborative practice environment with this group of employees. • Coordination of care with primary care, specialty care, mental health and other members of the patient’s care team. Considers discharge planning at admission and documents in the admission history and physical. • Performs history and physicals with attention to clinical performance guidelines. • Refers patients to other specialty care as required, coordinating with VISN and/or community providers as necessary. • Orders prescriptions, labs, x-rays and other pertinent tests. Responsible for follow-up on all tests, and document patient notification of test results. • Contract physician(s) shall complete a discharge summary on each patient that he/she personally orders to be discharged. Co-signs Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant discharge summaries inpatient while on duty. • Contract provider shall be available for telephone consultation regarding examinations performed and shall provide recommendations for appropriate procedures to attending or referring physicians. • Contractor physician(s) shall provide consultative services at the patient’s bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and in the clinic setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic. Procedures shall be scheduled for completion within 30 days of the date of the consult. • . Medications: Contractor physician(s) shall follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients. • Discharge education: Contractor physician(s) shall provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Gastroenterology clinical or surgical patients. • QA/QI documentation: The contract physician (s) shall complete the appropriate QM/PI documentation pertaining to all procedures, complications and outcome of examinations. • Completes documentation requirements in a timely manner as per policy. • All documentation shall either meet or exceed established standards of timeliness, accuracy, content and signature. Only VA approved abbreviations shall be used for documentation of the patient health record. • All documentation shall be completed utilizing the VA Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS). The reports shall be directly typed into CPRS utilizing a template and/or using voice recognition software, (reports will not be scanned nor cut/pasted). The electronic medical record shall be maintained in a timely fashion by Contractor’s employee(s). Information shall be entered and signed off without undue delay. Timely completion of medical record documents shall be defined as upon written entry; upon direct entry to CPRS; or upon receipt of a • Veterans Health Information Systems & Technology Architecture (VISTA) View Alert that a transcribed document is available for review and signature. • A minimum of two (2) hours of CPRS and dictation system training shall be provided by Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center for the Contractor's employee(s) at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center Medical Center in Saginaw, MI. Training shall be completed prior to commencement of patient care. Contractor’s staff shall have adequate computer skills to utilize the electronic medical record in CPRS. Adequate computer skills shall be defined as a working knowledge of Windows environment and the ability to use a mouse to point and click for selection of items desired and keyboard skills to produce approximately 30 words per minute. • All reports shall be in accordance with American College of Medicine standards. • Important study findings that may require a change in patient management, but not necessarily within an urgent timeframe, may be communicated by either direct documented communication or by a View Alert. • Any finding that has the potential to be life threatening or could cause serious harm, and that requires an urgent intervention or change in patient management; any finding that might result in prolongation of patient pain or discomfort; any finding that would result in the cancellation of on-going or imminent treatment shall be communicated immediately. Requirements: • License - Contract physician(s) assigned by the Contractor to perform the services covered by this contract shall have a current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in one or more States, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. However, physicians who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of this contract. • Minimum two years’ experience as a hospitalist or recent completion of an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency program. • All licenses held by the personnel working on this contract shall be full and unrestricted licenses. Contract physician(s) who have current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of this contract. • Board Certification - All contract physician(s) shall be board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Internal Medicine, and be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency(no online certifications will be accepted). All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must be kept up to date at all times.
