University Employed BC Cardiothoracic Surgeon West Atlanta Area

Leading healthcare system in west Georgia is recruiting a fellowship trained cardiothoracic surgeon as part of the expansion of their service line.  Highlights include a state-of-the-art lab with advanced vascular and cardiac electrophysiological care.  Last year this skilled team performed over 180 open heart cases.  An appointment of Clinical Instructor,  as clinical instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor is anticipated based on the candidate’s qualifications.  Position will practice adult cardiothoracic surgery in the West Atlanta area.  Consideration of candidates will be based on experience and long-term career interest.  Duties will include serving as a cardiothoracic surgeon for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery within the Department of Surgery with an active inpatient and outpatient practice, with coverage and practice the medical center.  Participate in efforts to provide outstanding clinical care, maintain/improve quality and patient safety, access to and management of clinical trials, and developing/refining innovative strategies in the field of adult cardiac surgery.  Participate in committees, peer review, present cases in the M&M case conferences, manage patient workups and procedures according department guidelines, and adopt any tools and/or technologies deemed part of the practice of adult cardiac surgery.  Participate in clinical research within the Division as well as quality efforts.  Participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents or fellows and other rotators through the cardiothoracic surgery service.  Position offers highly competitive compensation, robust benefits and opportunities for professional growth in a collaborative environment.
