Urgent Care Medical Director(FP, IM, EM)Leadership experience required
Position Summary
The Medical Director is a physician who provides clinical leadership and actively practices in our urgent care locations. The Medical Director functions as the Urgent Care’s clinical leader and ensures that the Mission and Values of the Medical Center are upheld. The Medical Director works daily toward the goal of providing the best care to patients through guidance, leadership, and oversight of the clinical staff. The Medical Director is responsible for establishing clinical protocols, medical staff hiring, orientation, scheduling, and on-going training and educational programs. The Medical Director actively participates in and oversees quality, compliance, and utilization review programs to include clinical practice standards and clinical documentation integrity.
The Medical Director shares responsibility with the Practice Administrator of Urgent Care to ensure regulatory compliance, positive external relations, new service development, and strategic plan implementation while ensuring the highest degree of efficacy in patient care. Works in conjunction with the Practice Administrator of Urgent and Vice President of Primary Care Practice Development to promote and implement efficient clinic operations. Promotes patient experience as a high priority. Reports to the Vice President of Primary Care Practice Development.

Job Specifications
EDUCATION: Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine is required.
LICENSURE: Eligible for unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Tennessee; unrestricted United States Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration registration ("DEA").
EXPERIENCE: Three to five years of previous experience in urgent care or walk-in clinic, three years or more years of supervisory experience required. Must be capable of providing day to day supervision and leadership to team members using good management, judgement, and communication skills. Must have a basic understanding of accounting principles and computer operations. Must be able to prioritize workload. Must be able to always project a professional image in dealing with patients, families, providers, third party payers and team members. Must have working knowledge of ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and general value-based care arrangements. Strong willingness to expand knowledge through training.
COMPETENCIES: Current State Medical License; DEA Drug Enforcement Agency Registration Number as applicable per prescriptive authority; Basic Life Support Certification required.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of Electronic Medical Record systems, Cerner PowerChart Ambulatory, MS Word and Excel software.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
· May have to stay late, work occasional evening or weekend hours, as required.
· Travel required to urgent care locations and the medical center campus, as needed.
