Permanent Psychiatry: General Job in Norwich, Connecticut

Large Outpatient Psychiatry practice is recruiting a Psychiatry Director in eastern CT.  This group has been serving the community for over 40 years providing multi-disciplinary mental health.  The current director will be retiring later in the year.  This highly successful group has 2 CT locations and 1 in RI.  In addition to outpatient mental health, this group also conducts cutting edge clinical research programs with pharmaceutical companies and TMS therapy.   

Job Description and Schedule:

    • 100% outpatient

    • Full-time position – Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm

    • The position will ideally be split between administrative, clinical, research and TMS.

    • No call is associated with this position

Medical Director Responsibilities (25%):

  • Work alongside the Clinical Director and executive Director

  • Oversee a team of 4 APRNs in CT locations

Clinical Responsibilities (75%):

  • Average patients per hour – 3-4

  • Typical patient visits are one hour for new initial visits, 15-20 minutes for follow ups

  • Low acuity cases like: Depression, anxiety, OCD, etc.

  • Ability to do virtual psychiatry in the office

  • Patient ages: All ages (7-EOL)

  • Payer mix: Mostly commercial; however, they accept most insurances

  • EMR: Pimsy

Research Role (15% of clinical responsibilities):

  • Clinical research – Pharma sponsored (multiple sponsors)

  • Multiple trials at any given point (typically between 5-8)

  • Avg. # of patients in each trial – 10-15

  • Types of cases: Depression, PTSD, OCD, Alzheimer’s, and migraine

  • Administrative Responsibilities: Overseeing the trial, focusing on patient safety

TMS (15% of clinical responsibilities):

  • 1-2 consults per week

  • 1 hour of supervision

  • 1-1.5 hours per week of direct patient care

  • TMS training available

  • 5-10% bonus of compensation based on gross revenue of TMS chair. 

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be board certified.

  • Candidate must be willing to work with a team in a collaborative work environment.

  • Has had past experience with clinical research trials, and/or is interested in being involved in clinical research in the psychiatric field
