Charter Oak Health Center is seeking employment of a Child Psychiatrist who is eager to work in a diverse environment. POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for diagnosing, treating and helping prevent disorders of the mind in children. Prescribe, direct and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat emotional, mental or behavioral disorders, design individualized care plans, and analyze and evaluate patient data and test findings to diagnose the nature and extent of the mental disorder.
Essential Position Duties
- Assessing and talking to patients about their problems and discussing the best way to plan and deliver their care.
- After diagnosis and assessment, initiate a treatment plan. If appropriate make recommendations, referrals, engage in therapy and/or prescribe medications.
- Provide initial psychotropic medication and medication evaluations on clients referred by Behavioral Health clinicians.
- Provide medication management therapy for clients of Behavioral Health.
- Collect and maintain the patient records to analyze the progress of the treatment.
- Explain the form of treatment and the expected behavior with the patient, to the family members, guardians or relatives of the patient.
- Treat patients with various mental disorders, which can be a minor problem like anxiety to very serious disorder like schizophrenia.
- Analyze the psychiatric history of the patient and attend sessions with the patient to solve the psychological problem.
- Complete managed care treatment plans and initial review for clients seen for psychotropic medication management within 72 hours of provided service.
- Consult/collaborate with Behavioral Health providers within, and outside of the agency to provide comprehensive behavioral health services within 24 hours.
Compliance Responsibilities
- Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including but not limited to those within the Compliance Process, Code of Conduct, HIPAA and Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA).
- Participates in required orientation and training programs, as required.
- Reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance in accordance with COHC Compliance Re porting Process.
- Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.
- Participates, as requested, in process improvement responsibilities.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Medical Degree
- Minimum 2 year experience in outpatient setting
- Licensed to practice in Connecticut and/ or license eligible in Connecticut
- Board Certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Board of Physician Specialties
