Permanent Psychiatry: General Job in Falmouth, Massachusetts

The Medical Director, Consultation and Liaison Division serves as the clinical leader of a multidisciplinary team that provides mental health consultation services to patients and their families and the medical staffs of twoHospitals. In addition, the team provides mental health consultation and care to Emergency Department patients and the medical staff. This position reports to the Chief of Psychiatry and Medical Director of the Centers for Behavioral Health . The Medical Director of the C-L Division (Psychosomatic Medicine) will supervise and evaluate the performance of Physicians, APRNs, and PAs that are assigned to the Division at both hospitals. In collaboration with administrative and support managers and directors, this position provides leadership, planning, organization, staffing, coordination, and evaluation for Consultation and Liaison Division activities. The Medical Director C-L Division monitors and ensures staff compliance with organizational policies and regulations, medical staff bylaws, Joint Commission standards, and applicable State and Federal laws and regulations. The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing a formal system of clinical quality monitoring and improvement, including the supervision of assigned APRNs, that incorporates performance metrics and best clinical practices. The Organization The Hospital provides acute, intermediate, rehabilitation, and outpatient health services to more than 250,000 people in Barnstable County, Massachusetts with the numbers growing significantly in the summer months. The hospital also has a 20-bed inpatient psychiatric service that serves acutely ill patients. Duties · Provide direct consultation services for inpatients and ED patients to two hospitals. · Supervise the clinical practice of assigned physicians and APRNs and/or PAs. · Develop, implement and oversee the operation of the Consultation and Liaison Division including designing care and communication processes, setting practice standards and performance goals, and monitoring the overall clinical quality and customer friendliness of C-L Division operations. · Participate in strategic planning and budget development processes that impact the performance of the Division. · Serve as the principle liaison between the Division and other clinical staff for two Hospital. Be a problem solver, finding effective and timely solutions that provide exceptional care for patients. · Provide training and coaching for Division staff to develop and maintain a proactive, customer-friendly service model for the Division. · Other duties assigned by the Chief of Psychiatry, CBH. Qualifications · MD or DO degree · Board Certified in Psychiatry · Eligible for licensure in Massachusetts (employment is conditional on obtaining an unrestricted license to practice in Massachusetts) · ABPN certification in psychosomatic medicine is highly desirable. · Prior experience in a significant leadership and/or management position is desirable.
