We are potentially hiring for a qualified civilian Physician-Emergency Medicine to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our veterans and their families at Fort Bliss Army Base in Texas.

The Physician-Emergency Medicine must have the following qualifications:

 

 

• Degree/Education:  Doctorate of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), shall be board certified in Emergency Medicine by either the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or the American Board of Osteopathic Emergency Medicine (ABOEM), Residency Trained/Board Certified (BP/BC) or Residency Trained/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine. Non-Residency Trained/Board Certified physicians will be considered but are not preferred. All emergency physicians are to be credentialed as preceptors and evaluators of residents, medical students, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. This Emergency Department participates in the academic mission of the institution for training residents and students. The Certifying Board for Emergency Medicine must be approved by the nationally accrediting agencies for all allopathic or osteopathic specialty boards, such as the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), and the American Osteopathic Associations (AOA). In addition, the residency training programs for Emergency Medicine must be approved by the nationally accredited agencies such as the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (AGME) and the American Osteopathic Association.

 

• Emergency physicians are expected to meet their annual CME requirement in topics related to the practice of emergency medicine. Board certified physicians are expected to continue meeting their board certifications and to be re-certified in accordance with the Emergency Medicine Board requirements/re-certification process. As a designated trauma center, Emergency physicians are required to maintain the requisite amount of annual trauma specific CME designated by the American College of Surgeons and Texas Board of Health Border Regional Advisory Council (BorderRAC) in order to be permitted to provide trauma care. Individual physician’s performance will be judged on quality, productivity and patient satisfaction.

    

• Certifications:  In addition to Basic Life Support, possess and maintain at all times, current certification in Advanced Life Support (ALS)

   

• Board Certification:  Residency Trained/Board Certified (BP/BC) or Residency Trained/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine. Non-Residency Trained/Board Certified physicians will be considered but are not preferred.

 

• Licensure/Registration:  Maintain a current, active, valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Texas, where the Military Treatment Facility is located. In addition, health care providers who write prescriptions for controlled substances must have a current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certificate or Controlled Drug Substance number as appropriate.

 

• Physician shall always maintain these licenses and certification in a current status while performing under this contract and be able to obtain clinical privileges to practice medicine with the Military Treatment Facility Credentials Committee.

 

• Experience:  Shall have a minimum of two-year experience within the last two years working as an Emergency Room Physician. Residency training counts as experience.    

 

• Due to contractual obligations with the DoD, Health Care Workers performing under this contract must either be a U.S. citizen, or as defined by the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, either a noncitizen national of the United State, lawful permanent resident of the United States, or alien authorized to work in the United States.
